Arsenal Women 6-0 Reading Women: Leaders maintain 100% start in style

Arsenal maintained their 100% winning start to the Women's Super League season in style as Vivianne Miedema's hat-trick helped them thrash Reading.

Miedema's early header, Jordan Nobbs' placed finish and Beth Mead's fine shot in to the far corner gave manager Joe Montemurro's side a 3-0 half-time lead.

Miedema tucked in her second after the break, before her Netherlands team-mate Danielle van de Donk slid in for 5-0.

The clinical striker slotted in when one-on-one to claim her treble late on.

Reading, who had just three shots to the Gunners' 18, arguably saw their best chance fall to England's former Arsenal midfielder Fara Williams in the first half, but she could not get the ball out cleanly from under her feet after racing through.

Miedema, who went close to adding to the score either side of half-time, took her personal tally to nine league goals for the season already, in Arsenal's fifth WSL game.

The leaders - who won 5-0 at defending champions Chelsea last Sunday - have scored 27 league goals, averaging more than five goals per game.
