A hero of the Titanic

Secret Essex

Available for over a year

In April 1912, RMS Titanic was just a few days into her maiden voyage to New York, sailing with 2,208 passengers and crew onboard, when the ship collided with an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean. One of those who perished was Father Thomas Byles, the priest at St Helen's Catholic church in Chipping Ongar. Eyewitness accounts say Thomas refused several offers to board a lifeboat, choosing to stay with passengers as Titanic sank... Narrated by Akylah Rodriguez.
