	Chief Minister says he always condemned political killings

“If not all the elected MPs from Tamil Nadu will quit their seats" is the message of the meeting conveyed by the Tamil Nadu government to discuss the Sri Lankan situation.

The meeting also urged Indian government to stop giving arms to Sri Lanka.

"I will take up this issue with the Indian Prime Minister and the Congress leader Sonia Gandhi,” Chief Minister M Karunanidhi said.

“Our effort is to stop the killing of Tamils, Tamils should be able to live with rights,” he said in an exclusive interview with the BBC Tamil Service immediately after the meeting.

He also dismissed suggestions that Tamil Nadu parties are taking up this issue for political gains.

When asked about his message to Tamil Tigers, in the context of them involving in suicide bombing and child recruitment, he said: “I had always condemned the assassinations of Tamil leaders such as Sri Sabarathinam, A Amirthalingam and Padmanabha”.

The CM hoped his call for unity among the Sri Lankan Tamils will be achieved at least now.

Main opposition party AIADMK, Vaiko's MDMK, actor turned politician Vijayakant's DMDK and the BJP boycotted this meet.

Karunanidi said this is not because of these parties are angry with Sri Lankan Tamils but they are angry with him.

Sri Lanka denies

Thol. Thirumavalavan, leader of Dalit Panthers- a staunch supporter of LTTE told the BBC that if Indian govt wants to have a cease fire in Sri Lanka it can do it within 24 hours.

Tamilnadu Congress chief Thangabalu extended his party's support to today's resolutions and said his party neither support nor oppose individual organisations in Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lankan foreign secretary Pallitha Kohona earleir rejected allegations of human rights violations by the Tamil Nadu political parties.

Dr. Kohona told BBC Tamil service a week ago that the Sri Lankan government is not conducting a war against Tamils but against a terrorist organisation holding territory illegally in the country's north.
