Hampton Loade Ferry
The broad hull has been covered with pitch to protect it when it's in the water
Over 50 kilos of black pitch has been spread over the broad, flat hull to protect the timber from the elements. The ferry has also drawn upon some techniques similar to those used in the contruction of Thames barges.
