Over 30 surfers took part in a surf tour of Scotland's south east coast beaches on Saturday 2nd April to raise money for the Tsunami Surf Relief UK appeal and Surfers Against Sewage.
The weather was fantastic and the surfers collected money on all the high streets and beaches including Portobello, Gullane, North Berwick, Dunbar, Pease Bay and Coldingham. We would like to thank the general public in Edinburgh, East Lothian and the Borders for being so generous and we have been told that UK wide surf tours combined have raised enough money to build new houses for over 40 people - thank you!
Organiser Sam Christopherson from Coast to Coast surf school said "It was amazing to see so many surfers turnout in April, some of whom had travelled from as far as Dundee and I'd like to thank all the public that donated money and a special thanks to the staff at East Links Farm and Dunbar Swimming pool". We would also like to thank Arch White (photographer) and the surf shops for their support.
The surfers put on a show at each beach, even though the surf was flat competing in a 'run-surf paddle-run' relay exhibition - Scotland's version of the beach lifeguard training in Australia!
