If you end up really beasting your board, then we would advise that you take it to a proper surf shop to get it fixed. If, however, you pick up a wee ding like the one in this feature, then there's no reason why you shouldn't fix it yourself. So without further ado, here's how to fix a ding on a surfboard.

All the materials for fixing a ding can be bought as a kit. Small, instant kits are alright for travelling, but if you're doing it at home, or if you have a van, get a proper surf kit with specific surfboard resin and fibreglass matting. | |

- Various grades of sandpaper/wet and dry, ranging from quite a rough grade, down to about a 180, for finishing off.
- A few pieces of pre-cut wood are also useful to wrap the sandpaper around.
- An ice-lolly stick (or similar) for mixing and applying the resin
- A razorblade
- A toothpick/cocktail stick |
