How to service a snowboard

Adding the final touches

Finally, to add the finishing touches, give it a rub (nose to tail) with a Brillo Pad and then brush it (nose to tail) with a stiff brush. If you plan on riding powder, you can also give it a quick polish with a cloth.

Going from nose to tail explained: if you take two pieces of polished glass, put a drop of water on one and then press them together, they will stick to each other. If, however, the glass has channels carved in it, the water will just run through the panes. The same is true with snowboards. If you buff your board up using circular motions making it all shiny, it will stick to the snow. By making all your strokes from nose to tail though, you are actually making lots of little grooves and channels in the base that will help your board glide over the snow faster.

Thanks to John Mitchell.
