We were flying home on Wednesday. The day started for me with Yeti and Grant crashing into my room (Mike had gone to sleep in their room with the door locked and Mike is a sleeping machine). They were in some state (Yeti kept using my foot as a mic) and kept phoning Glasgow.
Eventually they left to go up the CN tower, although this is what actually happened: 'We went to try and get booze, but you couldn't do that before 11am. We tried the 'cold tea' trick in Chinese restaurants, but they weren't wearing it, so we just lay down for a bit then got a taxi to the hotel as we were totally lost.' (Grant)
While they were out, I managed to wake Mike and tell him that we had to be out by 12. We packed up our stuff and packed the van whilst Grant and Yeti went to bed (the time was 11.30am).
When we checked out, the guy at reception asked if Grant and Yeti were also checking out. We said they were, so he gave them a call to remind them. Me and Mike went off in the van to buy some silly souveniers. I got a 'TORONTO' t-shirt with a maple leaf and a mug that was cut in half that read 'The vacation was so expen$ive I could only afford half a cup!' - I love crap jokes.
When we got back, Grant and Yeti were crashed out with all their gear on the lawn outside the hotel. The word 'rough' doesn't quite come close to describing the way they looked. Check the picture of Yeti! This wasn't even a lucky split-second type pic where the person pulled a face and you snap it. Oh, no - this was just the way that Yeti looked. Check out the spot on his nose! Hahahahahahah!
After getting all the stuff in the van, Grant, Yeti and Mike went off to Henry's for one last greasy. I couldn't handle it, so just went off for one last bimble round town, where I took a load more pictures. The last thing I heard from them was Grant going: 'Iain - do you know what pressing B2 on the jukebox will play?'
Met back up with the guys later on, dropped the rental van off and headed to the airport. Once there, we sat down at the bar and had our last few Canadian beers. Check the photo of Grant. Grant - you look about 40.
Going onto the plane, Yeti was coming to pieces and Grant was giggling away: 'Hahaha! Hey Iain - I'm going to terrorise you on the plane! Hahahah!' When we actually got on the plane, though, everyone just fell asleep - not even the temptation of watching the romantic comedy smash 'Love Actually' could tempt us to stay awake.
At some point I went to the toilet and on the way back, passed Grant who was asleep and saying 'Skendred!' to himself. I put his finger up his nose and went back to my seat.
We landed, said goodbye to Mike, went home and went to sleep for a long, long time...
Thanks to everyone involved in making the trip possible, especially Grant, Mike and even Yeti for making it one to remember. Thanks to all the cool guys that we met in Canada. If you ever come over this way, give us a shout and we'll try and be as hospitable as you were to us.
