Flotta Shindig part 2

Well a great nite was had by all who came along to our fund raising dance. The band were very good they still don't have a name yet but they are a young band who played well together and kept the dancers dancing. At half time the stovies and sandwiches were served up (excellent stovies Fiona) with tea and coffee. Ray did the raffle we had to speed him up a bit, he don't half talk alot. When that was all done it was time for the band and the dancing to start up again. At the end of the evening soup was served and time to go home. We raised just over £520 towards the fund and would like to say a big thank you to everyone that came along and help raise this amount. Also a big thank you to the committee for there help, Talisman for the boats and to those who helped with transport to/from the pier.

Burns Supper

The Flotta Burns Supper was a very good evening enjoyed by all. It was well attended by visitors from Hoy and the mainland as well as Flotta Folk. Mince and haggis was served up with clapshot and peas followed by jam and coconut sponge with custard. When the band started up there was no shortage of dancers. What seamed like a short time (well it does fly when your having fun) it was cup of tea and bisuit time follwed by the raffle . Excellent prizes won by young and old. The band started up again until the end of the evening. A cup of steaming hot soup ended the night. swing yer pants

A big thank you and well done to the community association members

Last night and today

Last nights Whist was very well attended. With 19 people there 5 tables were used (don't think I can remember 5 tables beigh used before). It did help that there were a few visitors. We played with a dummy hand on the ladies side and i must say it had a better score than some of the 'real' players. It went on a bit longer than usual but a well earned cup of tea and biscuits were dealt out at the end of the evening.
Today (Thursday) was coffee morning at the community centre. A lovely cup of coffee and some cakes and biscuits were served up by Aileen and the chat was flowing.
Tonight is badmington night. A weekly dose of winter exercise to shake off the New Year festivities.
