Source A describes the murder of Darnley. It was written in 1734 as an account of the life of Mary Queen of Scots.
Darnley had only been
in the house
, where Mary had taken him, for two weeks when it was
blown up with gunpowder.
It happened about one or two in the morning
, and only a few hours after the Queen had left him.
Darnley's body, and that of a servant who had shared the room with him, were found in the garden beside the house
.
Darnley's body did not have any mark of violence, or hurt, or wound on it.
Neighbours reported seeing Bothwell's men near the house.
