George Cunningham presenting a retiral gift to a worker in the 1970's

George Cunningham worked at Linwood for 18 years. He was interviewed in 2004.

The biggest shock I got was when I went over as a foreman into the machine shop and it was totally rigid. You daren't touch anything.

On one occasion I stuck my finger in one day and did that (wiped the part) and the maintenance man said 'You were fixing that and it's blacked', meaning they'll not fix it. We never made an axle for 24 hours and that was the stupidity of it. I thought that was totally outrageous. They would look for small things to create havoc.
