Amnesia - the 2004 Chain Gang story

Episode 6 by Tony Salt
Patrick stared around the room. His unfocussed eyes saw a pattern in the wallpaper. The cover on the bed bore the same design. Different colours and sizes, but the same. One word, repeated over and over. He stared uncomprehendingly at Janssen. In tiny thread on the pocket of his white coat was the word. DONT.
He saw a flash of silver. He snatched the key. The noise outside - traffic or sea, he'd thought - grew louder. Louder still as he flicked the locks on the briefcase. As he wrenched it open, he recognised the sound as the roar of a crowd.
Janssen stepped forward. "£100,000. Yours" The portable DVD in the lid of the briefcase began to play.
Patrick watched himself, drugged, hypnotised, performing unremembered actions. As it ended, the truth was revealed with a fade effect, Devils Own Network Television. The voice-over declared, "Reality TV, D.O.N.T.-style"
