I was lucky enough to see mercan dede in 1995 at a show in Detroit Michigan,(the concert of coulors) Along with his dervish dancers and hypnotic beats I along with my friends were stunned. I have no experience with sufi music, The beautiful girls spinning and dancing, Made my soul ache, Beautiful, Beautiful.

Brought tears to my eyes- same as when I heard my father ledt this world. I also cried when heard Devish's Ney CD in the shop near Suleimania Mosk. I am dedicated to Sufi music from now. Sufi music is not sr=tranger to me, however, at present it put great effect on me. Mercan dede is an excetional talent. After listening to his music I feel so relax, peaceful, so mellow. He must be a great Sufi. He is great.

Recently saw Mercan Dede performing with, amongst others, professor from Conservatoire at Istanbul, 15 year old percussionist, and Dervish dancer onstage. Some DJ beats and tapes, mixed with live playing but there's noting wrong with that. Can't describe it - just go because there is nothing like it. Does anyone have Sir Bob's phone number as he could do with some artists like this - though they might scare some of the aging rock gods.
