Celebrating Mozart
Vienna Piano Trio
Friday 6 January 2006 13:00-14:00 (Radio 3)
A series of recitals featuring some of the music which contributed to Mozart's 'star' status in Viennese society during 1784. From the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, introduced by Petroc Trelawny.
The Serenade in B flat was written for the celebrated Vienna Court wind ensemble, or harmonie. Mozart did not hear the first performance. Such was his popularity in 1784, he was in the suburbs, supervising another concert of his music.
