10 Ibiza AwardsIt just wouldn't be Ibiza if there wasn't a story to be told at the end of each season. 1. The 'Greatest Ibiza Chat Up Line Ever' Award It was at the Radio 1 Villa that Zoe & Norm first got it on. She had a show to do in 6 hours whilst he had a night of birthday celebtrations ahead. With little time for beating around the bush that Zoe would later throw up in, Norm popped the question to Zoe; "Do you fancy not going to bed with me tonight?" Watch the Norman Cook interview from '98 2. The 'Shaun Ryder Ate My Hamster' Award Well, what didn't he do back in the summer of '98? A lost weekend turned into a lost week and a lost summer. He went home, reformed the Mondays and opened Manumission the following summer. Radio 1 in Ibiza '98 3. The 'Queen Mum's Birthday' Award In 2000 this award went to Sara Cox for her unique birthday message to the Queen's Mum. Did someone mention incontinence pants? Sara Cox in Ibiza 2000 4. The 'Missing In Action' Award Pete Tong puts out an APB for Derek Dahlarge on behalf of his record company. Having come out for the opening of Manumission, Derek never returned much to the dismay of all the promoters of gigs he was booked for. We found him at the Manumission Motel chatting about supermodels and playing footy on the beach with Diego Maradonna. Watch Derek Dahlarge at the Manumission Motel 5. The 'How To Make An Entrance' Award Forget the yacht and entourage. P Diddy arrived on a dingy wearing a dressing gown with just a handful of friends. He even posed for photos after. Not such a bad Diddy after all. Watch the video 6. The 'Pick On Someone Your Own Size' Award In a certain back room of a certain club Annie Nightingale was unceremoniously pulled off the decks and quite literally thrown out of the DJ box seconds into the first tune of her show by the residents. A gesture that takes the phrase 'Stroppy DJ' to a whole new level. Annie's 2002 Video Diary 7. The 'How To Get Noticed In Manumission' Award Jay Kay of Jamiroquai has always loved a party but hates to be noticed. Stood on a bar in the back room of Manumission wearing a Red Indian head-dress, Jay Kay blended into the background by wrestling with a potted tree. A photo was taken, a chase ensued and luckily our photographer lived to tell the tale. Picture Gallery 8. The Leaves A Bad Taste In Your Mouth Award Danny Rampling broadcast live from the terrace of Pacha with special guest MC Gramma. Known for her vocal on Groove Armada's 'I See You Baby', Gramma em-ceed the delights of 'laydee on laydee' action leaving a bad taste in the mouth of those in the UK listening at 7pm on a Saturday evening. Pictures from the Pacha show in '99 9. The 'Having Sax With Someone Else's Hands' Award Our mate P Diddy storms the DJ Box in Manumission and insists on having a go of the Sax players saxophone. Ones snag though... P Diddy can't play. Not to be deterred he insisted on doing the 'easy' bit (the blowing) whilst the saxophonist did the 'tricky' bit (the finger work). Watch the video here 10. The 'What Was I Here For In The First Place?' Award Lisa I'Anson comes to Ibiza with the rest of Radio 1 and forgets to do her show.
