What’s it like to be part of the Bargain Hunt presenting team?
Presenting Bargain Hunt is so exciting and a real honour. As well as its burgeoning British fanbase, Bargain Hunt has an international audience so you know, there's no real pressure!
How do you find life on the road?
I'm truly amazed at just how many cities, towns and villages Bargain Hunt visits in one series. The UK boasts such a diverse landscape so it's a real treat to be able to combine work and travel in this unique way.
What is the favourite part of your role?
Apart from the sightseeing, I just love meeting the red and blue teams - Bargain Hunt just wouldn't be the same without the wonderful, bubbly contestants who simply cannot believe that their time to don the fleece has come!
Why did you choose a career in antiques?
I was gently nudged in the direction of the antiques trade and auction houses by my dad, who thought that I'd be well-suited to the environment. Although I'd never normally admit it, he was absolutely right!
What would you do for a living if you weren’t working in the antiques trade?
My plan was always to follow in my parents' footsteps and open a restaurant. If I'm honest, I'm not ruling it out as a sideline....there's nothing quite like catering to keep you on your toes!
What advice would you give to anyone wanting to work in antiques?
Don't think twice and get involved in any way that you can - there are few trades that can offer more variety.
How did you get involved in Bargain Hunt?
A previous Series Producer of Bargain Hunt saw me on the rostrum in Glasgow and, for whatever reason, decided that she liked my style. I'm glad that she did and owe her a lot - I doubt that I'd be here otherwise.
Who has been your most memorable Bargain Hunt team?
Each team has been fun, friendly and excellent to work with. My first ever team, a couple of farmers who bought a blue plough, will always hold a special place in my heart!
Which fairs do you particularly like shopping at when ‘bargain hunting’?
I love Wales and have had lots of fun at both Builth Wells and Anglesey.
What’s the most profit / greatest loss you’ve made at auction?
The losses stand out much more prominently in my mind than the profits.....let's move on, shall we?
What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
I'm rubbish at hair and make up but I could spend hours reading beauty magazines...I might trial a few wacky looks on Bargain Hunt soon!
How do you spend your free time?
My husband and I are guilty of eating out too much - Glasgow has so many great restaurants, too much of my spare time is spent eating delicious food and not enough time is spent working it off in the gym....
Do you collect anything?
I collect weird animal trinkets which, in turn, collect dust!
Why do you think Bargain Hunt has such appeal?
Bargain Hunt mixes 'business' with pleasure - the viewers at home learn a good amount about antiques but the focus lies mainly on all of the fun had at the fair. The balance is just right.
