Elaine Cassidy

Described as a bit ‘New Age’, Elaine brought a different energy to the Practice. She was a trained CBT practitioner which gave her remarkable insight into patients, as well as the Hollins family when she unravelled Rob Hollins’ complicated relationship with his father.

She was also a great help to Simon Bond during his breakdown and formed an unlikely trio with Karen and Julia as they formed their own ‘bucket list club’.

But Elaine had a disastrous history with men. When we first met her, she was trying to end a long term affair with a married man. From there her choices got worse when she met Harrison Kellor. To be fair she didn’t know that he was married (and that his wife was 8 months pregnant), nor did she know that Harrison would have another affair with reception temp Lauren and end up killing her!

Branded a hypocrite by Zara, Elaine struggled to retain her status as a therapist as her own life unravelled; Harrison would not let her go and she felt a strange compulsion to visit him in prison. His subsequent suicide almost tipped her over the edge and she tried to seduce an astonished Howard Bellamy.

Elaine returned to her home in Norfolk, let’s hope she’s finally found some peace!
