Maxine & Shelly

Maxine and her husband Micky have been on again, off again for as long as Shelly can remember and this time he walked out on Maxine and buggered off to Dubai. Maxine went a bit wild when he left, jetting off to Ibiza with the girls and dying her hair every colour in the rainbow, but she’s calmed down again now and deep down she still loves him and wishes he’d come home.

Shelly thinks she’s mad. Maxine says she’ll understand when she falls in love one day, but Shelly’s not interested in love right now, she’s focused on paying off her pay day loans so she can open a beauty bar in the local shopping centre and she’s agreed to ‘rent out her womb’ to the gay lads, Nathan and Andrew, who Maxine cleans for three times a week.

She’s now in the last trimester of her pregnancy and thinks it’s the perfect way to make some easy money - £10k for a healthy baby. Maxine’s not so sure and she’s worried Shelly hasn’t thought it through. She remembers how she felt when the midwife first put her Shelly and her brothers in her arms and she’s worried how Shelly will feel when she holds her own flesh and blood in her arms. But for now she’s trying to support her daughter and keep over excited Andrew and Nathan at bay.
