RADIO DRAMA INTERACTIVE TOURS

Join our BBC Tour Guides for a behind-the-scenes insight into radio drama as well as taking part in some fun interactive and immersive activities.
You might get the chance read the news or the weather, take part in a Question of Sport Quiz or some exciting Horrible Histories games.

RADIO ACTING AND SOUND EFFECTS WORKSHOP

Have you ever fancied playing a character in a radio drama?
Come along to the MPAS Studio and have a go. We’ll record a scene from the radio production of The Wizard of Oz using different areas of the studio. You can also try your hand at being a sound spot engineer and make the sound effects for the scene!

MODEL MAKING WORKSHOP WITH SHAUN THE SHEEP

Join an expert Aardman model-maker for an exciting hour of creative fun teaching you how to make your very own Shaun the Sheep.
You can even take your creation home with you!
Suitable for children aged 6–12 (must be accompanied by an adult).

Drop-in Events
STREET THEATRE

Join classic literary characters as they take a stroll around the centre and interact with the crowds. You might investigate a mystery with Sherlock Holmes, take tea with the Mad Hatter or help Dorothy find her way home.
COMPLETE THE SCENE

Visit The Studios block and have your photograph taken with your favourite BBC characters through the magic of green screen. The event will run from 10.00am until 4.00pm.
NORTHERN CHARACTER EXHIBITION

Take a peek at the ways we go about creating character at the BBC with our exhibition of behind the scenes photos from top TV and Radio shows. Drop by The Studios block between 10.00am and 4.00pm to view the gallery in between sessions!
LOST PROPERTY

Come and rummage through the lost suitcases of iconic literary characters and see if you can deduce who they may belong to. A family–friendly event that will be running from 10.00am until 4.00pm in The Studios block. See if you can uncover who may have lost the mystery suitcases...
LIGHTS DOWN, LISTEN

This is your chance to hear some of BBC Radio 4’s best-loved characters past and present. Drop into our listening space in Salford University where we will be playing radio dramas throughout the day. There will be something for everyone from family favourites to ground-breaking Northern drama. Durations from 45 - 75 minutes.
