Rochelle Humes
Singer
Rochelle, is one fifth of the girl band The Saturdays. She’s married to Marvin, a member of boyband JLS. In May she gave birth to their first child, a daughter named Alaia-Mai. Rochelle baked lots for Marvin during her pregnancy, leading her manager to nickname her Mary Berry.
Rochelle first found fame in her teens as part of pop group S-Club Juniors, later known as S-Club 8. The group was a younger spin off to chart-toppers S-Club 7 and achieved six top ten singles. The Saturdays formed in 2008 with Rochelle’s fellow S-Club Juniors member Frankie Sanford. The other members are Una, Mollie and Vanessa. The band has scored 12 UK top ten hits including number 1 hit ‘What About Us’. Rochelle is now a panellist on the BBC Three comedy panel show Sweat the Small Stuff presented by Nick Grimshaw.
Baking Experience
• Growing up Rochelle helped her mum with basics like mixing and making cupcakes. Now thinks of herself as a good cook and enjoys hosting dinner parties.
• Says people think she can bake as she famously tweeted pictures of her bakes throughout her pregnancy but Rochelle is worried her reputation is misleading – she’s actually only made four types of cake and keeps repeating the same ones over.
The Bake Off
• Rochelle says she’s “so scared” as it seems so tense in the tent when she’s watching the show.
• Despite having some baking experience, Rochelle says she’s not confident at all, as the thought of the mystery bake scares her.
• Says Mary and Paul are a “scary little duo” especially Paul who is “so blunt” but she’s hoping to soften Mr Hollywood with a woman’s touch.
