A subtler creature than Best, she is easier to underestimate. But to do so would be foolhardy. Fiercely intelligent, Castello’s capable of employing a more discreet method of attack than her predecessor, but she doesn't pull her punches in her copy. A second-generation Sephardic Jew, Castello combines the scrappy enterprise of her parents – who came to Whitechapel with nothing more than the clothes on their backs – with the intellectualism of the New Woman movement.

But don’t be misled – Castello is no feminist. She doesn’t think men and women are equal - she thinks women are far superior.
