Action Man and the Unexploded Bomb!
The Coalville toy factory that helped make Spitfires and was almost blown up
Hear the story of one of the most iconic factories in the country, situated in Coalville and belonging to Palitoy – the makers of Action Man, Action Girl, Tiny Tears, Star Wars figures, Play-Doh and Care Bears… to name but a few!
During the war, the factory was commandeered for the war effort to make crucial parts for the Spitfire. It was strategically important which was probably what led to a dramatic event in 1942.. Stuart Warburton, Secretary to the Coalville Heritage Society takes up the story.
