Widow: £250,000 fine "deserved" over death of floor layer
A widow is telling companies that "health and safety the most important thing they do", after contractors were fined £250,000 over the death of a worker.
Paul Tilcock, 30, from Brighton, was overcome by fumes from an adhesive he'd been using to lay a bathroom floor in Mitcham, south London in September 2015.
His wife Stacey told BBC Surrey the company deserved the fine.
Contractors T Brown Group Ltd in Ewell pleaded guilty to a breach of the Health and Safety at Work Act. It has apologised and has told BBC Surrey it has stopped using the chemical involved.
The flooring company which suppled it, Altro Limited of Letchworth, also admitted breaking health and safety law and was fined £500,000.
HSE inspectors said Paul's face mask was "completely ineffectual".
