SXSW

Austin, Texas makes a fair claim of being the live music capital of the world.
At no time is this truer than during SXSW when the entirety of the downtown area becomes an enthralling melting pot of different sounds, from the tumult of street performers and buskers on every corner, to the thrum of live bands spilling out from Austin's seemingly endless array of venues.
But of course this eccentric, beguiling image is only one part of Austin's identity.
BBC Music Introducing held five hugely successful showcases at South By South West celebrating British music at it's very best.

BBC Music Introducing in Stourport

At the end of February, we descended on a place that was once primarily a hotel to record our latest sessions.
But behind the doors of the The Swan in Strourport is not only a live performance space, that’s putting the town back on the musical map, but also a brand new recording studio.
We took along artists handpicked from the BBC Music Introducing uploader to perform in front of a live audience – and also for you!

The Biggest Weekend

The Biggest Weekend will see music come together on the BBC like never before across TV, radio and online!
With more than 175,000 tickets available to the public, it is a one-off music festival which promises to bring the nation together for a massive celebration of live music.
BBC Music’s Biggest Weekend will take place on four sites, in four nations, across four days. Belfast, Coventry, Perth and Swansea are the four UK cities that will host the event on the May bank holiday weekend from Friday 25th until Monday 28th May 2018.
There will be something available for everyone with concerts being hosted by BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3, and BBC Radio 6 Music, plus extensive TV coverage across BBC Two and BBC Four. Sets will be available on BBC iPlayer, mobile and online.
This week, we reveal the artists we've put forward for consideration to play in Swansea alongside Sam Smith, Jess Glynn, Ed Sheeran, Craig David, George Ezra, Years & Years, Liam Payne, Sigrid, Taylor Swift, Thirty Seconds To Mars, Rita Ora, Niall Horan, Camilla Cabello, James Bay, J Hus, Stefflon Dan and Wolf Alice!

Track of the Week

Bonding over a mutual appreciation for '60s/'70s rock 'n' roll, punk and gospel, the Worcester three-piece, The Americas, dropped everything in their lives and decided to chase that thin wild mercury sound that howled out from the records that they love.
They're influenced by acts such as Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones and have just come back from a full UK tour.
Andrew Marston says: "When they played a live session for us at the Phoenix Theatre in Ross-on-Wye, in October, their musical performance was so tight it was like listening to a CD.
"So on that note, I played their live track on my ‘One To Watch Out For’ on BBC Radio 6 Music at the tail end of last year."
