Rio Olympics Begin

The opening ceremony for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro is taking place at the Maracana stadium. The organisers are hoping to lift the spirits of a nation that has been struggling with economic and political crisis. We hear live from Rio.

One of the biggest gatherings of computer hackers, Defcon, is underway in Las Vegas. The convention is expected to draw more than 20,000 people to two sprawling Las Vegas convention venues. One of the main events includes a 'hackathon', where the infrastructure of business IT systems is tested by hacking experts.

And we speak to the co-founder of Netflix, Reed Hastings, about his favourite programmes and the origins of his entertainment streaming giant.
