The protestors dug tunnels which were cleared before construction could begin. Pete Faulding, a confined spaces rescue expert was hired to check and clear the tunnels. Here, he has shared some of his photos from the time.

The protestors stashed everything they might need underground.

They had planned to stay in the tunnels for months, but we got down there first.
