In session

The Stirs are a four-piece indie/rock band from Kidderminster who play a blinding set wherever they go.
They're a cross between The Libertines and The Clash, making lots of noise with catchy guitar riffs and music you'll want to jump up and down on a chair to (as their drummer often does!).
All of our live studio sessions and festival gigs since 2005...

Becky Hill

On 22 April 2011, we gave the first-ever airplay to an unknown artist in Bewdley by the name of Becky Hill.
Back then, she was writing and performing tracks with a band called Shaking Trees.
Over those next few months, we forwarded three of her best singles onto Huw Stephens and Tom Robinson and invited her band to perform a live session with us at Nozstock.
Just one year later, Becky landed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to appear on BBC One in a new show called The Voice.
Although she didn't win it, Becky became the first artist, to have appeared on the TV talent show, to achieve a number one record.
She's since teamed up with several high profile producers and is regularly performing gigs all over the world.
On Wednesday night, as part of the BBC Introducing in Hereford & Worcester takeover session on Radio 1, Becky joined us in the studio to talk about life in the Top 40.

Record production

He's one of the most prolific record producers in our area and so far, it seems, every song he's worked on has achieved national success.
Ben Stancombe set up a studio at his home in Bromsgrove at the age of 16 to initially record his own tracks.
But after turning down a record contract, he opened his doors to like-minded musicians and found his hobby quickly turned into a flourishing career.

BBC Introducing: The Worcester Music Festival

This month's sessions were recorded at Drummonds as part of this year's Worcester Music Festival.
The event has been compared to a local version of SXSW with several pubs and clubs around the city hosting live music with song-writing workshops also taking place during the weekend.
It was founded in 2008 by Chris Bennion who makes Worcestershire Sauce who wanted his area to be known for more than just Lea & Perrins.

BBC Introducing: The Bewdley Festival

BBC Introducing in Hereford & Worcester supports unsigned, undiscovered and under-the-radar musicians from Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
Since 2011, we've been taking the show out on-the-road showcasing the very best musicians from our two counties.
On Sunday 11 October, we'll be rolling up to the Mercure Hotel to record several acts who we've been playing on BBC Hereford & Worcester recently.
We'll bring the bands - all we need now - is the fans!
None of these artists knew they were being considered for a live session - they were chosen based on the tracks they uploaded to us.
So if you'd like to Be Part Of It then simply turn up on the day - it's free to get in - but you must be prepared to make lots of noise for local music!
Doors open at 2pm - but you're more than welcome to turn up anytime until 6pm.
