Mane Chance Sanctuary

In a week long special Mark Carter shares stories from staff and visitors at the Mane Chance Animal Sanctuary in Compton.

Nestled in the Surrey countryside Mane Chance is a haven for horses that have been badly abused and neglected.

It was founded two years ago by the actress Jenny Seagrove and at the end of last year, Mane Chance was the recipient of a BBC Sussex and BBC Surrey Community Heroes Award in the Animal Welfare category.

As well as nursing the horses back to good health, the aim of the sanctuary is to integrate them with the local community.
