In the 60s it wasn’t just the culinary landscape that was changing. The countryside changed beyond all recognition too, thanks to the advent of a truly monumental undertaking, the motorway.

Designed to make travelling from A to B easier but with no speed limits and little traffic, these new highways became a destination in their own right. They were exciting, new and stylish, with swanky silver service restaurants to boot!
