White Horse Village: 10 Years In

Carrie Gracie returns for a special documentary to White Horse Village and finds out how the people she first met 10 years ago are faring in the new China.

A decade ago White Horse Village was a tiny Chinese farming community - home to just 3000 people. Fast forward ten years and it's been utterly transformed - into a huge city. Its story echoes the wider story of modern China, where economic growth on a grand scale has changed the lives of millions - with subsistence farming giving way to urban living. The BBC's Carrie Gracie has been visiting White Horse Village ever since the Communist party decreed that it would make way for a new city. She returns for a special documentary and finds out how the people she first met 10 years ago are faring in the new China.
