Adam Shaw finds out more about the growing global issue of food waste from the director general of the UN's Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), Dr Jose Graziano da Silva.
This time on Horizons, Adam Shaw heads to Rome and finds out more about the growing global issue of food waste from the director general of the United Nation's Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), Dr Jose Graziano da Silva.
From farm to fork, around a third of all the food we produce worldwide is wasted. This accounts for 1.3 billion tonnes each year, according to the UN Environment Programme and FAO. This programme looks at some of the solutions to help us reduce the mountains of waste.
