The Long-Named Project
Kate Molleson and Dr John Purser explore Chisholm’s university years and his crusade for contemporary music.
Kate Molleson, with insights from Dr John Purser, charts Chisholm’s journey from Edinburgh lecture halls to the launch of the Active Society for the Propagation of Contemporary Music. With Bartók, Hindemith and Walton among his guests, Chisholm fought to bring the highest quality music to Glasgow, and to forge a distinct Scottish musical identity in a world dominated by English traditions.
