Interior designer Banjo and his husband Ro tackle the vast ruined entrance of Ulva House – can they transform it into a breathtaking lobby worthy of their Hebridean dream?

Interior designer Banjo and husband Ro confront the ruined, mouldy hallway of Ulva House. Their dream is to transform this damp and uninviting arrival space into a lavish and welcoming lobby that chronicles the long journey the pair have been on to get to the island of Ulva.

Before any transformation can begin, the pair must tackle years of mould, damp and decay - a huge challenge on their tight budget. Their only chance is to call in favours and rally friends from nearby islands, but success relies on people willing to go the extra mile for them. Together, the group battle through the cold, grimy hallway, stripping back decades of neglect inch by inch, with every sweep revealing a little more of the mansion’s forgotten past. However, just as the meticulous mural artist begins her delicate work, the roof starts to show signs of imminent failure. One leak, one crack, one drip in the wrong place could destroy hours of painting in seconds.

Meanwhile, Ro tackles the house’s ancient water system; a tangle of pipes so fragile that a single wrong move could unleash a flood and wipe out further weeks of work. Banjo races back to Mull, scouring his collection of antiques for one perfect piece that might anchor the design for the entire room.

Within Ulva House, the mural begins to bloom across the walls, stirring something deep in Ro. The colours, the landscapes and the quiet echoes of Australia hit him harder than he expects. This isn’t just décor, it is their story painted into the bones of a house they are risking everything to save.

Just as the room edges towards something magical, the weather turns. One failure now could destroy the mural and drown the heart of their project before it ever opens its doors. Will their vision withstand the next hammer blow the island throws at them? Or is this the moment their dream starts to crack?
