Nollaí (in English)
Nollaí thinks he’s a regular run-of-the-mill deer, but his world is turned on its head when he discovers that he might be the last Irish elk in existence.
Nollaí is just a regular, run-of-the-mill deer. He’s a little tall for a deer, but he’s always been told he’s big-boned. He’s been living life with his human family; his sister and best friend, Sadhbh, and Dad. He came into their lives one wintry night ten years ago when they found him scared and alone in the stone circle on the mountain.
One day, everything is flipped on its head as he accidentally stumbles across a surprise that reveals he is possibly the last living Megaloceros giganteus, aka the extinct giant deer, in existence! It does explain a lot, though. Like how he’s only ten years old and already as tall as Dad’s tractor! Once the truth sinks in, Nollaí’s head fills with questions. Where did he come from? Does he have a giant deer mam or dad? Nollaí and Sadhbh embark on a journey of discovery to find out.
