Episode 13
Finals week kicks off for the remaining five celebrities, and things take a sweet turn as pastry skills and spectacular creations come to the fore.
The finals begin, with 15 familiar faces from the world of showbiz now whittled down to the best five for a serious celebrity showdown. The calibre of the cooking has been soaring, but now the pressure is being piled on. Only one celebrity will be left standing at the end, where their glittering career will be overshadowed by a far shinier prize – the iconic Celebrity MasterChef trophy.
Things take a sweet turn as pastry skills and spectacular creations come to the fore. Nobody should get too comfy because one more will be heading home. Finals week kicks off with a trip to one of the country’s most celebrated potteries, Wedgwood, which is celebrating the 250th anniversary of its most famous clay creations – jasperware. The celebrities will be serving a delectable afternoon tea for some special guests, including renowned potters and the lord mayor of Stoke-on-Trent. A celebration of this magnitude requires only the best service, and to help things go smoothly, Cherish Finden, one of the world’s leading pastry chefs, will be taking control of the kitchen and guiding the celebrities as they hopefully rise to the occasion to deliver a standout service.
Each finalist will be responsible for making one of Cherish's creations, including next-level coronation chicken and a truly inventive take on the prawn sandwich. Their dishes require precision cooking, as the slightest misstep could dash their dreams of a beautiful plate of food. No amount of preparation can ready these stars for what’s in store, and Grace and John will be praying that the celebrities do Cherish – and MasterChef – proud.
Having tried their hand at someone else’s stunning creations, the celebrity cooks will head back to the MasterChef kitchen to create their own. The judges’ brief is to deliver a dish that includes an element of performance and offers them a chance to show their creative side, use some party tricks and put forward a show-stopper of a dish. The bigger the risk, the more that can go wrong. There’s a place in the final four at stake, so nobody will be playing it safe.
Once the tasting is complete, Grace and John must decide which four celebrities have made the cut to take on a task that doesn’t even compare to stage fright. But if they want gastronomic glory, they’ll need to brace themselves for a culinary showdown.
