Shree Hindu Temple and Community Centre, Leicester

The Shree Hindu Temple in Leicester welcomes us to join their daily prayer service as they dedicate their worship to the deity Lord Shiva.

There is a service every day, with each marking a celebration of a different deity or god. Devotees attend the mandir with offerings of food for the deities and perform aartis, where small candles are waved before the statues during prayer.

To bring about a spiritual connection and create an uplifting atmosphere, bhajans, or hymns, are led by groups of musicians and congregants. This is followed by the Shiva Abhishekam, which is performed on the Shiva Lingam, a symbolic representation of Lord Shiva.
