Christmas Trees and Reindeer on Gower
Ifan Jones Evans brings stories of rural innovation, from Anglesey’s historic Melin Llynon to an award-winning upland farmer and Wales’s largest Christmas tree grower on Gower.
This week on Country Focus, Ifan Jones Evans brings together stories from across rural Wales.
We begin on Anglesey with the story of Melin Llynon – the restored working windmill where traditional milling has been brought back to life, helping preserve an important piece of Welsh rural heritage.
Megan chats to Katie-Rose Davies from Nantymoel near Bridgend, recently named Beef Farmer of the Year. She shares how innovative upland farming methods, including virtual fencing and efficient cattle breeds, are helping improve soil health, biodiversity and animal welfare.
Finally, we travel to Gower to learn how Rob Morgan’s family farm has grown to become Wales’s largest producer of Christmas trees and the home of the nation’s biggest reindeer herd. He explains the evolution of the farm and the enormous preparation behind the festive season.
