Three hours of classical sparkle

Join Sarah Walker for a Sunday mix full of colour and character - bright openings, graceful dances, and music to set your imagination free.

This week, Sarah starts the day with calm and radiant music to start your Sunday with warmth and light, before heading north for sounds full of freshness and open air. There’s a touch of mischief too, as lively dances and symphonic surprises bring plenty of twists and turns along the way.

This week’s Choral Reflection features the Kiev Chamber Choir in Valentin Silvestrov’s Agnus Dei, a quiet, glowing piece written in response to the Maidan events of 2014.

And for our Sunday Morning Long Play - an opportunity to settle in for an unhurried masterpiece - Sarah has chosen Mozart’s majestic Symphony No. 39. Get the coffee prepped.

Plus, there are musical adventures with a violinist who can’t sit still, a dance that keeps changing its mind, and a nocturne that’s far too awake to say goodnight…

A Tandem Production for BBC Radio 3.
