Three hours of classical sparkle

Sarah Walker with three hours of classical music to reflect, restore and refresh whether you’re preparing a feast or warming up with a cup of tea.

Today, Sarah revels in all three movements of Shostakovich’s second piano concerto - both ebullient and mournful, and there’s a glittering violin concerto by Maddalena Lombardini Sirmen.

There are also shimmering strings and bold brass from John Barry, and this week’s Choral Reflection is by David Lang, with a piece which embraces the never ending cycles of life.

Plus, music inspired by a park with a view in South East London…

A Tandem Production for BBC Radio 3.
