They Are Lying to You!
The team try to stop a Preston student from handing over money to scammers who have told her that they are from the UK’s National Crime Agency.
The team take on a group of scammers pretending to be from the UK’s National Crime Agency and frightening their victims into believing they will be arrested if they do not prove their identity.
They have locked on to a student in Preston who thinks her National Insurance number has been compromised. The scammers say the only way to fix things is to buy gift cards and hand over the numbers on them.
As the hub team try to reach her by phone, the ground team rush to the nearby supermarket to stop her buying the gift cards in person. Can the teams intercept the scammers and their victim in time?
