South: Alexandra Palace
The BBC's biggest comedy talent search is celebrating its 30th birthday, and we're heading to London, where five comics will compete in the third of six knock-out heats.
The BBC’s big comedy talent search, the New Comedy Awards, is scouring the country to uncover the hottest new stand-ups. We head to London and the historic Alexandra Palace, home of the BBC’s first broadcast. Five comics will battle it out to book their place in this year’s grand final showdown, where one will be crowned the BBC New Comedian of 2025.
Hosting the comedy extravaganza is comedian, actor, presenter and writer Sara Pascoe. Joining her are the three judges, two of whom are former New Comedy Awards finalists, stand-up comics Catherine Bohart and Michael Odewale, plus head judge, Fatiha El-Ghorri.
Blank Peng, Fab Goualin, Sharifa Butterfly, Sydney May and Evaldas Karosas each perform their set before the judges decide who will go through to the Grand Final in November. There can only be one winner, so who will it be?
This is just one of six heats taking place across the UK - Belfast, Glasgow, Bristol, Newcastle and Birmingham all play host to these comedy showdowns.
