Cerys presents your Sunday sonic and cultural/social adventure. She chats to Roger Armstrong & Ted Carroll, founder members of Ace Records as they turn 50 and talks town planning with Ruth Jackson, ahead of World Town Planning Day, held annually on 8th November.
Founded as Chiswick Records and later Ace Records, the label has been pivotal in shaping UK independent music from the 1970s onward. They're celebrating 50 years of the label, known for its genre-spanning catalogue, from Northern Soul to Rockabilly, Acid Jazz to World Music. Their legacy includes launching careers (Joe Strummer, Kirsty MacColl), reviving forgotten gems, and curating iconic compilations.

Ruth Jackson is the founder and Director of Ruth Jackson Planning (RJP), an independent planning consultancy based in Manchester. She's led projects across housing, cultural regeneration and infrastructure, with a focus on sustainability, heritage sensitivity, and community impact. World Town Planning Day, held annually on 8th November, brings planners and communities all over the world together to celebrate how good planning improves the lives of people and benefits society at large, creating vibrant places to live, work, and play together.
