2023 marks the 100th anniversary of Turkey becoming a modern secular state, built from the ashes of the once mighty Ottoman Empire. At the crossroads of Europe and Asia, Christa Larwood sets out to explore how Turkey's diverse mix of cultures and traditions helps to make the country an ever-popular tourist destination. Starting in Istanbul, she traces the footsteps of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey. Christia then heads to the coast to visit a cave network claimed to have healing properties and drops in on the oldest coffee house in the country. She climbs Mount Nemrut to learn more about a group of mystical stone monoliths that give clues to the country's ancient past.
