A Lark's Call
Gary West brings you top tunes from the world of the bagpipes, including a dip into a new album from County Kerry uillean piper Tom Delany.
Gary West brings you more top quality music of the bagpipe family, including a dip into ‘The Lark’s Call’, a new album from County Kerry uillean piper, Tom Delany. There are sets too from Edinburgh highland pipe soloists, Iain Speirs and Colin MacLellan, including a fine rendition of an intriguingly titled classic pibroch, The Red Speckled Bull. A quintet from the Johnstone Pipe Band treat us to a modern medley, while the Greater Glasgow Police Pipe Band showcase their love of material derived from the Gaelic song tradition in a collaboration with singer, Rachel Walker. The bellows-driven Scottish smallpipes take their place on the billing too, with sets from Annie Grace and the Vermont-based pairing of Timothy Cummings and Jermiah McLane.
