Ethiopiaid
Ethiopia is a vibrant and culturally diverse country. Our approach is simple. We deliver support to people who need it the most, at a time when it will make a real difference. We raise funds for local Ethiopian charities to transform lives and achieve lasting change.
When home is not a place of safety

In Ethiopia nearly a quarter of women are subjected to gender-based violence; most of this happens at home. As a teenager, Mekedes was controlled, threatened, and raped by a person she thought she could trust.
More than a safe place to sleep

Mekedes’ life changed when she was referred to a women-led safehouse supported by Ethiopiaid. Each year these safehouses help around 4,000 women and girls to find safety and build an independent life.
Safer communities for all women and girls

As well as this life-saving support, Ethiopiaid is working with front line service providers to bring about long-term change in communities. It costs £50 for a woman to stay in a safehouse for 3 months. If you donate now, all donations will be matched up to £15,000.
