Clarrie’s going over her Mystery Plays script, trying to find her ‘inner king’. She feels she needs some help, and from someone more king-like than Eddie. Meanwhile Eddie announces he’s become a double agent, having secured a role in the production of the Mysteries which the Darrington Dramatists are also working on. Lynda’s plan is for him to infiltrate their camp and check out the competition from the inside. Clarrie doesn’t think this is a good idea. Later she enlists the help of posh Sabrina Thwaite as her voice coach. Clarrie needs to go all out to show Lynda, and Susan, what she’s capable of.
Kate and Adam surprise Alice with a baby shower, complete with animal onesies and non-alcoholic booze – for her. But they’re drinking proper bubbly, and Alice rings Chris in desperation. With him out working she has no escape and is worried she’ll crack. Just as Alice is forced to decline Kate’s offer of a sneaky glass of champers, Kate gets a message: they have to go, Peggy’s had a fall. Chris has rigged this decoy, and is very grateful to Peggy, who’s in on it. Peggy feels that perhaps it’s time to tell the family about Alice’s battle, but Chris doesn’t want to, for Alice’s sake. He promises Alice is doing ok. And he doesn’t want Peggy to say anything either. Peggy gives her word, and assures him she’s there if they need help. The baby comes first.
