Ruairi’s suggestion causes controversy and Jim questions himself.
Things are still tense at Greenacres, but Jim and Alistair agree that Jade’s dreadful, and not suited to Jazzer. They’re also agreed they’ll need to keep that opinion to themselves. Jim reckons Jazzer’s right, he’s a snob – if he was less judgemental maybe Alistair and Shula’s marriage might have had more of a chance. Alistair reassures his dad. He’s done absolutely nothing wrong on either count. They’ll just have to be there to catch Jazzer if the need arises.
Ian’s worried about money. Adam assures him it will all work out. But Ian’s concerned about Adam’s hours, which will go up even more when Alice goes on maternity leave. They might have to consider childcare for Xander – more expense. Adam detects Ian’s low mood. Ian confesses he’s worried about Grey Gables, and his own confidence has taken a dip. Sympathetic Adam tries to reassure him.
Brian fills in Ruairi on how the Home Farm partnership meetings work. He’s concerned he won’t be able to cover as many lambing shifts as he used to. Perhaps they should get out of sheep. Ruairi laughs that Ruth’s been hinting at that too. He suggests a swap: Brookfield rents Home Farm land for their sheep, so Home Farm can still reap the benefits to the soil that sheep provide. Hesitant Adam agrees to consider it. But Brian’s determined to back it at Friday’s meeting. Adam’s aghast that Brian could support such a scheme wholesale. When Brian offers to help Adam out with his bills, he refuses in a huff.
