Adam feels cornered, and Jolene gets the lowdown.

Lilian makes her statement to DI Thorpe about Matt and Melling Equestrian. Thorpe is very thorough - asking about Lilian's romantic as well as her business relationship with Matt. They review the transcript of Lilian's call to the police, and DI Thorpe reassures Lilian that she did everything she could. Later, Lilian confides to Jolene that she gave Matt a head start. Jolene's astounded. But Lilian loved Matt once, and Jolene concedes she understands how hard that must have made things. Lilian feels nothing for Matt now except pity. She can look forward to a Matt-free future.

DI Thorpe and Harrison review the suspects in Matt's attempted murder. Neither Adam nor Justin has an alibi for the night in question. They're also looking for anyone connected to Melling Equestrian with a grudge against Matt.

Roy apologises to Ian for interrupting Carina's visit. Ian retorts that Carina won't be their surrogate. He's convinced that Roy's intervention gave her the impression Adam was too violent to be trusted with a child. Ian's devastated. Roy decides to speak to the staff - at least he can make sure everyone cuts Ian some slack. Ian returns home to discover that the police want to speak to Adam again. Adam's worried the police might actually think he tried to kill Matt.
