Justin is not a happy man, and Harrison plays detective.
Distracted Lilian can't concentrate, and makes her excuses to extricate herself from a shopping trip with Jennifer. Lilian's odd behaviour is explained when Adam fills Jennifer in on recent events, and his own appointment at the police station. He begs Jennifer not to say anything to Lilian yet.
With the information about Adam's assault on Matt still fresh, DI Thorpe quizzes him about his exact relationship with Matt. With Ian working late at Grey Gables on the evening of the hit and run, Adam is without an alibi. Adam insists he knows nothing about Melling Equestrian Investments, but declares he's not shocked when he learns of Matt's fraud. DI Thorpe admits to Harrison afterwards that she believes Adam has nothing to do with Matt's criminal activities.
Lilian's surprised to find Justin back at the Dower House. But he's in no mood for reconciliation, and is reluctant to listen to her. Eventually she pins him down, and explains the whole story of Matt's latest exploits. Justin's stunned to learn of Hugo Melling's involvement, and even more shocked the police are involved. He remains fuming with Lilian. Her distress cuts no ice, and when the police call him to arrange an interview, his first thought is for his friend Latif. It's a sordid mess, and Justin recommends that next time Lilian decides to take a lover, she should consider the consequences.
