Jill feels under attack, and Neil must remain impartial.

Kirsty prepares to speak against the intensive pig unit at the Parish Council meeting by voicing her concerns to Jill. Jill argues back, pointing out that it can be hard to earn a living from farming these days. Kirsty could really do with Lynda's support, but she's on holiday.

Later, Jill confesses to David that Kirsty has upset her. She implied that farmers like them were despoiling the planet. She's also had an earful from Pip about Josh's plans to promote his business at Open Farm Sunday.

Before the Parish Council meeting Justin has a word with Neil about the pig unit. Neil firmly asserts his impartiality as council Chair. At the meeting Kirsty passionately defends the right of pigs to be kept outside, and raises the potential environmental consequences of the unit. David argues that it will be less harmful to the village than the current situation, where waste is brought in from outside to feed the anaerobic digester.

Lilian is doubtful about Justin's choice of PA. She has a perfect solution though, and makes a call. Justin is amused - she just won't give up. Justin isn't too worried about opposition to the pig unit. If you know how to handle people you can usually get what you want, he asserts.
